3D Printer

CraftBot Flow IDEX

The IDEX series is the latest and greatest from CraftBot. It’s built on the same Flow framework that has gotten a lot of attention lately, but the IDEX takes it a step further. The CraftBot Flow IDEX comes with a second extruder that can be used completely independently, printing two separate parts at the same time to finish production in half the time.

Alternatively, you can use the second extruder to create supports that dissolve in water or inlay a second material into your part. This second extruder can completely change how you use your 3D printer.

Meanwhile, the IDEX comes with a larger build volume as compared to other options in CraftBot’s catalog.

Every CraftBot Flow IDEX allows you to create 3D prints quicker than ever. It has an impressive build speed, even if you’re just using one extruder. The software that powers the CraftBot Flow IDEX focuses on speed and efficiency in each print.

As a tabletop 3D printer, your engineering team will keep coming back to the CraftBot Flow IDEX. It’s an FDM printer that can meet your production demands and it’s a critical tool for any prototyping phase.

Features and Benefits

An Easy-to-Use 3D Printer that Fits Your Engineering Budget

Just like any printer that CraftBot makes, the CraftBot Flow IDEX is an affordable but powerful and versatile FDM 3D printer. It’s one of the quickest and most affordable ways to bring plastic fabrication in-house, and your team will quickly see its power. With the CraftBot Flow IDEX in your fab lab, machine shop, or engineering office, you can make high-quality prototypes in a fraction of the time.

Unrivaled Speed

3D printers are often a faster alternative to traditional machining, but the CraftBot Flow IDEX takes this idea one step further. This machine has been designed to make 3D printing even faster, resulting in shorter turnarounds for anything you make on this machine.

  • Dual extruders for faster fab. The dual extruders can make two parts at the same time and double your throughput with this machine.
  • Powerful motherboard and processors. The brains of the CraftBot Flow IDEX are designed to speed things up even further, achieving a build speed of up to 200 mm/s.
  • Startup is a breeze. The initial installation and time before each new print is incredibly fast, which means that you can start printing in no time.

A Great Addition for Any Engineer

We primarily sell the CraftBot Flow IDEX to engineering departments, and we’ve heard success stories from a number of industries and countless applications. The bottom line is that this printer is so versatile that we’re confident your team will find a reason to use it regularly.

  • Make high-quality prototypes. Prototyping has never been easier, and the CraftBot Flow IDEX will streamline the process while saving you money.
  • Perfect for low-volume plastic production. Any time you need to make low-volume batches of plastic parts, you should consider using the CraftBot Flow IDEX to speed things up.
  • Expedite your production workflow. The CraftBot Flow IDEX seamlessly integrates into any existing production workflow, simplifying everything.

CraftBot Flow IDEX | Exceptionally Easy to Use

When you start using the CraftBot Flow IDEX, you’ll realize how little room for error there is. This machine comes with a number of sensors, automatic processes, and simple instructions to walk you through each print. You can run this machine with no prior experience.

  • Automatic leveling and calibration. Before each print, the CraftBot Flow IDEX will automatically optimize the parameters and ensure the bed is level without any effort on your behalf.
  • High-quality build plate. The build plate itself has great adhesion and makes it easy to remove parts after they’re done — streamlining two areas that commonly come with a lot of headaches.
  • Start new prints easily. You can start a new print remotely or with a single click, then monitor the progress with its built-in camera system.

More About This Technology

Fused deposition modeling (FDM) is one of the most common forms of 3D printing, and it’s largely used by hobbyists and DIYers. It has a special place in industrial settings as a low-cost way to make presentable 3D parts. You might use an FDM printer to create a scaled model home, an aesthetic representation of the final part, or a non-load-bearing component.

FDM works through an extruder on an XYZ (3-axis) gantry. Solid plastic is pushed against a hot nozzle which turns the plastic molten. The molten plastic is then carefully applied to the bed of your 3D printer. The 3-axis gantry will move around in X and Y, drawing a single layer of your 3D model. When it’s done, the nozzle will move up in the Z direction and create a new layer directly on top of the previously-extruded layer. This process continues until your full 3D-printed part is completed.

FDM printers are not used for load-bearing applications due to the weakness of the plastic material, and the weak points between each layer of the print. Even a small cyclic load can easily cause failure between layers.

You might find FDM-printed parts in the aerospace, medical, and consumer goods industries.
