Artec

Artec Micro

The Artec Micro is the highest-precision 3D scanner that the company makes. It’s a desktop unit, meaning that it isn’t a handheld scanner that you can take on the production floor with you. However, desktop 3D scanners can offer much more functionality and accuracy, since points can be anchored and stationary.

The Micro, as the name suggests, is only designed to scan very small parts, up to 90 x 60 x 60 mm, or 3.5 x 2.3 x 2.3 inches. Yes, this is small, but the precision you get is unrivaled by most other 3D scanners on the market.

With accuracies as low as 0.01mm and resolution down to 0.029mm, this is truly a metrology-grade 3D scanner that can easily replace an existing CMM setup that you may have. As a 3D scanner, it has more flexibility in what parts you can insert.

In the end, you’ll get meaningful 3D CAD files that are exact digital twins of the part you put into the Artec Micro. Even though it’s a desktop 3D scanner with ultra-high precision, it can still capture up to 1 million points per second, which translates to some fast 3D scanning.

Features and Benefits

The Perfectly Balanced 3D Scanner

When it comes to very small parts that need to be 3D scanned, the Artec Micro strikes a perfect balance. Like other Artec scanners, it’s not too expensive and it still offers incredible accuracy. You can find similar accuracy specs on other 3D scanners that are significantly more expensive than the Micro. In other words, this well-balanced desktop 3D scanner will give you all the functionality your engineering department needs, without blowing your budget.

Get High-Quality Inspection Data

A lot of our customers use the Artec Micro as a way to replace their previous inspection steps. This machine lets you quickly scan a part and create a 3D model that can be directly compared to the original CAD file used to manufacture the part.

  • Precision good enough for quality control. With tight precision and accuracy values, you’ll get precise enough measurements to confidently integrate the Micro into your quality control workflow.
  • Replaces a traditional CMM setup. Instead of a rigid CMM setup, you can use the Artec Micro to handle the inspection of small-format parts.
  • Accuracy that you can trust. Artec is well-known for creating high-quality 3D scanners that do exactly what they advertise. This means that your engineers can trust the results of each 3D scan.

Streamline Your Reverse Engineering Process

Any reverse engineering process can benefit from having an Artec Micro. With parts these small, the traditional reverse engineering method of measuring with calipers can be tricky and add a lot of uncertainty and wasted time. Instead, you can trust the Micro to streamline this process.

  • Fully-automated scanning. The Micro is designed to automatically scan any part you place within the machine, saving you time on each scan.
  • Go from scans to 3D models in minutes. Between the Artec Micro and its proprietary Geomagic Design X software, you can go from a scan to a finished 3D model within minutes.
  • The best way to reverse engineer small parts. There’s simply no better way to reverse-engineer small parts than with an Artec Micro.

Seamless Integration

The Artec Micro can seamlessly integrate into your existing engineering, quality, or inspection workflow. This small desktop unit just needs to be plugged in, go through a one-time calibration, then it’s ready to start scanning. The data will be sent directly to your computer so you can breeze through every scan.

  • Simply plug it in, and hit “go”. Once everything is configured, starting a new scan is as easy as putting the part within the Micro, and clicking “go”.
  • Directly generate STL files. Need to 3D print a scanned part? It’s easy with the Micro, since this machine can automatically translate any scanned file into a 3D-printable STL file.
  • A 3D scanner that requires no previous experience. You don’t need any previous 3D scanning experience to generate ultra-high-quality metrology-grade 3D models with the Artec Micro.
